Jim Oskinigeesh

Cultural Background: Ojibwe, Eabametoong First Nation (Fort Hope), Ontario

Jim Oskineegish is an Ojibwe artist who is a registered member of the Eabametoong First Nation which is located in northwestern Ontario, Canada. Jim paints in the Shamanistic Woodland Style using bold lines and bright colors. He loves to paint legends and stories of his people and hopes that his art can bridge a universal understanding of love, faith, and unity. “I want to promote positive Ahnisnabae culture to the world.”

Jim has post-secondary instruction in the field of visual arts and has further developed his own unique and distinctive style. If Jim can evoke a response or emotion from the viewer, then he feels that he is successful in the world of contemporary art. While in attendance at Lakehead University, he was awarded the Framing Experience Award during the Lakehead University Juried Student Art Exhibition in 1990-1992. Subsequently, he then was awarded the Thunder Bay Society of Architects Award during the Lakehead University Juried Student Art Exhibition in 1991-1992.

Jim Oskineegish est un artiste Ojibway qui est membre de la Première nation
d'Eabametoong, qui est situé au nord-ouest de l'Ontario, au Canada. Jim peinture dans le style chamanique Woodland utilisant des lignes audacieuses et des couleurs vives. Il aime peindre les légendes et les histoires de son peuple et espère que son art peut combler une compréhension universelle de l'amour, la foi et l'unité. «Je veux promouvoir au monde la culture positive

Jim a l'instruction post-secondaire dans le domaine des arts visuels et a développé son propre style unique et distinctif. Si Jim peut évoquer une réponse ou de l'émotion du spectateur, alors il sent qu'il a réussi dans le monde de l'art contemporain. Alors qu'il fréquentait l'Université Lakehead, il a reçu le prix d'Expérience d'Encadrement Durant l'Exposition d'art des étudiants de l'Université de Lakehead en 1990-1992. Par la suite, il a reçu le prix de la Société
des Architectes de Thunder Bay lors de l'Exposition d'art des étudiants de Lakehead en 1991-1992.
