Pauline Michele Bull

Pauline Michele Bull is married to Eric Parnell Jr who is a Haida native, band member of Masset, BC, Haida Gwaii nation, when they married Pauline became a member of the “Raven” clan.  Pauline’s father is Interior Salish native, and is a band member of Seton Lake, BC, also known as “Lh7us”, which means, “Coming to Head of the Lake” in St‘át’emc native language.  Seton Lake, BC, is part of St‘át’imc nation also known as “Lillooet” nation, her father’s crest is, “Crane”.  Pauline’s mother is native from Nickeyeah, which is located across the river from Lytton, BC, the meaning of “Lytton” is “Kumsheen”, which is part of Nlaka’pamux nation, which means, “People of the River”.

Pauline was born on September 21, 1964, and has lived in Vancouver, BC, all of her life.  Pauline was introduced to the art by her aunt who taught her to bead in the mid 80’s.  Pauline’s painting career started in 2009 with encouragement from Eric and has been collaborating with Eric since then. Pauline’s own style is a combination of realistic and traditional.  Pauline has been designing and painting her own art work since 2010.  Pauline considers the art to be very spiritual and healing.  One of her goals as an emerging artist is to be a small part of reviving our native culture.

Pauline Michele Bull est une Salish de l’Intérieur, et est membre de la bande de Seton Lake, en Colombie-Britannique, de la nation Lillooet. Son emblème suit le clan de son père qui veux dire; ”Grand héron bleu”. Sa mère est de Nickeyeah, sur la rivière de Lytton, en Colombie-Britannique, le sens de Lytton est Kumsheen, et la nation de sa mère est Nlaka’pamux: ”Lorsque deux grands fleuves rencontre”. Son père est de Seton Lake, en Colombie-Britannique, également connu sous le nom “Lh7us”, qui signifie ”venir à la tête du lac” dans la langue maternelle st’at’imque .

Pauline est née le 21 Septembre 1964, et a vécu à Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique toute sa vie. Pauline a été initié à l’art par sa tante qui lui a appris l’art du perlage dans le milieu des années 80. Sa carrière de peintre a commencé en 2009 avec l’encouragement d’ Eric Parnell, artiste Haida Gwaii, et collabore avec Eric depuis. Le style de Pauline est une combinaison de réalisme et de tradition. Pauline fait la conception et la peinture de ses propres oeuvres d’arts depuis 2010. Pauline considère l’art comme étant très spirituel et répérateur. Un de ses buts comme artiste émergent, c’est d’être une petite partie de la relance de notre culture d’origine.
