Born in 1954, Brent Heighton won early acclaim for his masterly control of color and light. His work is sensitive and glowing, revealing an intuitive grasp of the subtleties and breadth of his primary medium, watercolors.

Heighton was raised in British Columbia and Ontario and, following high school, studied art at Algonquin College in Ottawa and Douglas College (now Kwantlen College) in Vancouver. He has been a self-sustaining artist since leaving school and embarking on a brief career in commercial arts.

In 1988, Heighton was named a Master of the Federation of Canadian Artists. He is the youngest artist ever to receive this honor. Today, Heighton works from the studio/home he shares with his wife, Bettie, and daughters, Terri and Julie.

Brent Heighton, né en 1954, s’est rapidement fait remarquer pour sa maîtrise exceptionnelle de la couleur et de la lumière. Son travail, délicat et lumineux, révèle une compréhension intuitive des subtilités et de la richesse de son médium principal : l’aquarelle.

Heighton a grandi en Colombie-Britannique et en Ontario. Après le secondaire, il a étudié l’art au Collège Algonquin à Ottawa ainsi qu’au Douglas College (maintenant Kwantlen College) à Vancouver. Depuis qu’il a quitté l’école, il est artiste indépendant et autonome, après une brève carrière dans les arts commerciaux.

En 1988, Heighton a été nommé Maître de la Fédération des artistes canadiens, devenant ainsi le plus jeune artiste à recevoir cet honneur. Aujourd’hui, il travaille depuis son atelier à domicile, qu’il partage avec son épouse Bettie et leurs filles Terri et Julie.
