Martin Shire is originally from western Quebec and now makes his home in Victoria, BC. After graduating from Sheridan College with his diploma in their Illustration program he spent his formative years doing extensive studio and illustration work in Montreal before moving to Toronto where he painted extensive amenity maps in the commercial real estate sector.

Shire started using watercolours and inks, graduating to a computer stylus and then to acrylic paint and oils. Upon moving to Victoria in 2007 he began developing his fine art skills and began his long trek as a fine artist. Vivid strong colours are his primary landmark and his recognizable style has caught a growing number of patrons and supporters.

Martin Shire likes to return to western Quebec regularly to his cottage on the Ottawa river in the Pontiac region, which he says has inspired him for many years.

Martin Shire est originaire de l’ouest du Québec et vit maintenant à Victoria, en Colombie-Britannique. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme en illustration au Sheridan College, il a passé ses premières années à Montréal à faire un travail intensif en studio et en illustration, avant de déménager à Toronto où il a réalisé de nombreuses cartes d’installations pour le secteur immobilier commercial.

Shire a commencé par utiliser des aquarelles et des encres, puis est passé au stylet numérique avant de se tourner vers la peinture acrylique et à l’huile. En arrivant à Victoria en 2007, il a commencé à développer ses compétences en arts visuels et a entamé son parcours en tant qu’artiste professionnel. Les couleurs vives et fortes sont sa marque de commerce, et son style reconnaissable a attiré un nombre grandissant de collectionneurs et d’amateurs.

Martin Shire aime retourner régulièrement dans l’ouest du Québec, à son chalet situé sur la rivière des Outaouais, dans la région de Pontiac, qui l’inspire depuis de nombreuses années.
