Although her family originally came from Barcelona, Spain, Rosa Chavez was born in California. Blessed with artistic parents, her childhood and long walks through beautiful natural settings inspired and cultivated the natural talent expressed in her paintings.

Rosa started her education as an artist at the Bellas Artes Art School in Mexico City, where she explored many mediums including sculpture, acrylics, pastels, watercolors and oils, during the 5-year program. Upon completing her Artistic Degree in 1981, Rosa decided to continue her studies at the Bellas Artes Art School in Barcelona, Spain. This school not only provided a specialized education strictly in oil painting; it also expanded her perspectives in a deeply personal way. Rosa completed her degree as an “Artist-Specific in Oil” and set out to explore her chosen medium as a professional artist.

After painting Mediterranean views for six months, Rosa and her husband Leon, also as artist in oils, decided to move to America. They now live in San Fernando, CA where they both continue to paint and manage their personal studio, The Emerald Art Gallery, which opened to the public in 1996, and sells to corporations as well as private collectors.

Rosa a commencé sa formation artistique à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Mexico, où elle a exploré plusieurs médiums, dont la sculpture, l’acrylique, les pastels, l’aquarelle et la peinture à l’huile, durant un programme de cinq ans. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme artistique en 1981, Rosa a décidé de poursuivre ses études à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Barcelone, en Espagne. Cette école lui a offert non seulement une formation spécialisée exclusivement en peinture à l’huile, mais elle a aussi élargi ses perspectives d’une manière profondément personnelle. Rosa a obtenu son diplôme d’" Artiste spécialisée en peinture à l’huile " et s’est lancée dans l’exploration de ce médium en tant qu’artiste professionnelle.

Après avoir peint des paysages méditerranéens pendant six mois, Rosa et son mari Leon, également artiste en peinture à l’huile, ont décidé de s’installer en Amérique. Ils vivent maintenant à San Fernando, en Californie, où ils continuent tous deux à peindre et à gérer leur atelier personnel, The Emerald Art Gallery, ouvert au public depuis 1996, qui vend autant à des entreprises qu’à des collectionneurs privés.
