Born in 1952, Malcolm comes from a long line of artists and can trace his ancestry back to Richard Wilson, the well-known 18th century English “romantic” painter. Malcolm studied at the City of London Polytechnic and the Wimbledon School of Art before embarking on a successful career as freelance artist and illustrator.

He has produced work for television, films and museums. In addition to book-jacket illustration, he has painted murals for commercial companies, and more recently, he has been working as a Lecturer in Art and Design.

His first love, however, has always been landscape painting and it is to this that he has turned his full attention in recent years. His work captures the effects of lighting and atmosphere, a rare ability, which enables him to turn simple objects into the magical. His intention is always to convey the very essence of the subject, rather than just merely state the obvious.

Né en 1952, Malcolm provient d’une longue lignée d’artistes et peut retracer ses origines jusqu’à Richard Wilson, célèbre peintre romantique anglais du XVIIIe siècle. Il a étudié à la City of London Polytechnic ainsi qu’à la Wimbledon School of Art, avant d'entamer une carrière réussie comme artiste et illustrateur indépendant.

Il a produit des œuvres pour la télévision, le cinéma et des musées. En plus d’illustrer des couvertures de livres, il a peint des murales pour des entreprises commerciales. Plus récemment, il travaille également comme enseignant en art et design.

Sa première passion demeure toutefois la peinture de paysages, discipline à laquelle il consacre désormais tout son temps. Son travail se distingue par sa capacité à capturer les effets de lumière et d’atmosphère — un talent rare qui lui permet de transformer des objets simples en scènes empreintes de magie. Son intention est toujours de transmettre l’essence même de son sujet, plutôt que d’en offrir une simple représentation évidente.

Les œuvres de Malcolm ont été exposées dans plusieurs galeries à Londres et dans le sud-est de l’Angleterre.
