Raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Geoff Hager's study of art began in childhood under the guidance of his mother, an abstract painter. This mentorship during a formative time inspired him to pursue a career in art and earn a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982.

Majoring in painting and a minor in illustration, Hager began his career of more than 26 years as a freelance illustrator. As a professional, his work was a creation of highly technical draftsmanship and three dimensional views from two dimensional plans of renderings and paintings for architects, designers and developers.

Abstract painting and sculpture provide a creative alternate to the earlier demands of exacting architectural realism.
