Born in Santiago, Chile, Hugo Fernando Leal attended Chile’s University of Antofagasta’s Graphic Design Program from 1983 to 1985 and the Painter and Design Program at the Art School of Valparaiso from 1985 to 1988. He started his career as an art teacher in 1985 and changed career paths in 1989, to work as a textile designer for various organizations. In 2001 Fernando opened his own studio for Art Design in Valparaiso, Chile and has become quite successful.

Fernando has exhibited in the Principals International Exhibitions of the World for Textile Design in countries such as France, Japan, Germany, Italy, Brazil and the United States.

Né à Santiago, au Chili, Hugo Fernando Leal a suivi le programme de Design Graphique à l’Université d’Antofagasta de 1983 à 1985, puis le programme de Peinture et Design à l’École d’Art de Valparaiso de 1985 à 1988. Il a commencé sa carrière comme professeur d’art en 1985, avant de changer de voie en 1989 pour devenir designer textile au sein de diverses organisations. En 2001, Fernando a ouvert son propre studio de design artistique à Valparaiso, au Chili, où il connaît un grand succès.

Fernando a exposé dans les principales expositions internationales de design textile dans des pays tels que la France, le Japon, l’Allemagne, l’Italie, le Brésil et les États-Unis.
