Robert Sissel

Robert Sissel makes his home on the outskirts of Sioux City, Iowa, at the junction of two rivers and the meeting of three states. This Midwestern setting, rich in history and unspoiled nature, forms the backdrop for many of his paintings. From the bluffs above the Missouri an endless panorama stretches away over grassland and trees, harboring wildlife and joining the unpolluted skyline in the distance. A native of this land, Robert was born in eastern Iowa and grew up in the town of Marion. Here the works of painters such as Andrew Wyeth and Norman Rockwell moved Robert to begin experimenting with portraits of family and friends and then to the rural scenery of the American Midwest.

Robert Sissel demeure à la périphérie de la ville de Sioux, à Iowa, à la jonction de deux rivières ainsi qu’aux limites de trois états. Cette région scénique de l’ouest, riche en histoire et nature vierge, sert d’inspiration pour plusieurs de ses œuvres. Les scènes panoramiques sont à l’infini au Missouri, la verdure et les arbres hébergent une superbe vie faunique et viennent rejoindre la ligne claire de l’horizon au loin. Robert, originaire de ce pays, est né dans l’est de Iowa et grandit dans la ville de Marion. Ici, les travaux de peintres tel que Andrew Wyeth et Norman Rockwell poussent Robert à expérimenter avec des portraits de famille et amis et par la suite des scènes rurales de l’Amérique de l’ouest.
